Description

Size 1.5 m
Description Generally dark greyish-brown, infants are brown with white stripes. Body robust with large head, relatively slender limbs. Each foot with two main hooves and a smaller lateral hoof. Mature animals has tusks.

Ecology, Habitat & Location

Ecological Notes Found mainly on land. Feed on a mixed of animal and plant material, such as roots. Active during both day and night.

Distribution Found in forest, scrubland and mangroves. In Singapore, can be found on Pulau Ubin, Pulau Tekong, and in the Western Catchment Area. Also recorded from wooded areas in Changi, Lim Chu Kang and the Central Catchment Nature Reserve. Distributed widely.
