| Flowers | Flowers large; sepals dark maroon - purple, to 15cm in length. Lateral petals reflexed, pale cream - pale greenish white, with a purplish tinge towards the tip. Lip purple from base to area below the stigma; white in the much widened area of the lip that is beyond the stigma, with irregular grooves on upper surface. Flowers reputedly smell like a mix of 'dung and insects' and attract beetles as pollinators. |
