Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A woody liana with stems which can grow up to 10m in length. 
Foliage The leaves are arranged in opposite pairs on the stems and are simple with an entire margin, elliptical and a cordate leaf base. 
Flowers The small flowers are borne on racemose cymes up to 25cm in length. The flowers have 6 petals to form a slaverform corolla and are fused together to form a cylindrical tube. The petals are cream with pink stripes on the inner surface. 
Habitat It can be found in open forests, forest borders and brushwoods of altitudes of 200 to 1000m.    
Ethnobotanical Uses Medicinal: The stems and leaves are used to treat fractures and injury. The latex and roots are used for anaemia and rheumatism.
