The Comprehensive Marine Biodiversity Survey (CMBS) was Singapore’s first large-scale initiative to assess and document the diversity of marine life in our waters.
Led by NParks, this survey involved scientists, tertiary institutions, non-governmental organisations and over 400 volunteers. They conducted field surveys and ground monitoring in the following habitats:
The data collected helps us build a comprehensive database of Singapore’s marine biodiversity, which guides conservation decisions.
The CMBS was carried out between 2010 and 2015. Volunteers, up to 400 strong, participated in field surveys with local and international researchers to document biodiversity in our mudflats, intertidal areas, coral reefs and seabed.
