Philanthropist, entrepreneur, and investor Mr Peter Lim, in partnership with NParks, has launched a $10 million scholarship programme. The programme empowers less privileged youths to pursue careers in landscaping, horticulture, ecology, veterinary and animal science sectors by supporting their skills development.

Job duties:

  • Oversee and implement landscape curation and design in the Singapore Botanic Gardens' themed gardens (Fragrant Garden and Healing Garden).
  • Maintain and enhance the Garden's living plant collections.
  • Monitor and analyse ongoing research activities and projects on the Gardens' living plant collections.
  • Design and implement show gardens at major events for local and international audiences.

Job duties:

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to implement island wide conservation initiatives, such as the Ecological Profiling Exercise and the Species Recovery Programme.
  • Strategise with other agencies on national policies that impact conservation issues.
  • Provide expertise and technical input on safeguarding biodiversity for land-based and freshwater development projects.
  • Oversee and execute research for terrestrial ecosystems and biodiversity conservation.

Job duties:

  • Maintain the greenery at the Rail Corridor, for all users to use and enjoy.
  • Engage stakeholders such as nature groups and heritage groups in planning for activities and future developments.
  • Organise tree planting events as part of the One Million Trees movement to make Singapore a City in Nature.
  • Support ongoing conservation projects through fieldwork including bird ringing and biodiversity surveys.

Job duties:

  • Manage and oversee the rescue, treatment and rehabilitation of injured local wildlife.
  • Conduct health and welfare assessments of confiscated wildlife involved in illegal wildlife trade investigations.
  • Implement wildlife biosurveillance and genetic databanking programmes for wildlife to safeguard One Health and combat illegal wildlife trade.
  • Provide veterinary support for wildlife management, population monitoring and conservation projects which promote human-wildlife co-existence.
  • Liaise and coordinate regional and international engagements with agencies (e.g. World Organisation for Animal Health) in wildlife health and disease.

Job duties:

  • Lead a team to manage trees and other greenery along roadside planting verges.
  • Coordinate operations, facilitating he effective implementation of technology in operations, and developing the teams' individual and collective capabilities.
  • Contribute to the development of NParks' policies on tree management, the use of science and technology in landscape operations, and on capacity building in arboriculture across the public, private and people sectors.

Job duties:

  • Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of park facilities and greenery, including the Coastal Playgrove/ marine Cove and KPMG Wellness Garden.
  • Plan and execute initiatives to nurture community stewardship of nature, such as tree planting and therapeutic horticulture programmes.
  • Build community relationships through volunteer programmes and management of public feedback.
  • Design and deliver habitat enhancement projects to attract biodiversity and enhance park ecology.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on inter-agency projects in or around the park, such as Long Island Plan and other development projects.

Job duties:

  • Oversee the implementation of quarantine protocols, biosecurity measures and isolation procedures as part of a broader effort to mitigate the threat of animal diseases of public health significance.
  • Provide veterinary care for imported pets under quarantine to safeguard animal health and welfare while facilitating pet travel.
  • Review, update and implement veterinary import conditions based on scientific risk assessments and in accordance with international standards to protect against emerging and novel infectious public health threats.
  • Partner other government agencies for joint advocacy and operations, such as working with ICA on the risk of transboundary disease introduction with smuggling of pets.

  • Plan the interconnected network of urban green spaces and natural habitats across Singapore, such as the new marine park at Lazarus South and Kusu Reefs.
  • Collaborate with other agencies to shape greenery and landscape master plans and tackle national policy issues like flood resilience and climate change.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to safeguard greenery.
