Session synopsis
Herbarium collections contain valuable information, including physical characteristics and associated ecological data, that researchers use to study plants and classify them into distinct groups. Today, researchers also use DNA to uncover and verify the evolutionary relationships among plants, improving the accuracy of plant classification. In addition, computer vision models are increasingly being applied to specimen images to aid in plant identification. Join us to discover how these modern techniques are advancing the study of plants.

About the Speaker
Ms Seah Wei Wei is currently pursuing her PhD in the Netherlands. Her research explores how different techniques can be used to better understand the evolutionary relationships among plants and improve plant classification and identification.
