Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is a premier botanic garden in Miami, Florida, known for its exceptional collection of tropical plants and renowned orchid conservation and outreach programme. In this talk, Lai Simin from the Singapore Botanic Gardens shares insights from her six-month professional attachment at Fairchild, where she worked with horticulturists and botanists to collect, conserve, and curate rare plants, and participated in educational initiatives. Simin reflects on her key learning outcomes and inspirations from the neotropics. 

About the Speaker
Lai Simin joined the Gardens’ Living Collections team in 2011, bringing a keen interest in conservation horticulture and biodiversity conservation. Her work encompasses the curation and cultivation of plant collections to support critical conservation objectives and educational outreach.
