The Arctic may seem distant, but its changes are reshaping the world we share. Warming about four times faster than the global average, its melting ice is threatening communities, ecosystems, and biodiversity far beyond the poles.
The second instalment of Melting Ice, Sinking Cities invites you to view the climate emergency through the lens of the 2025 Bears Ice Glaciers Arctic Climate Expedition (BIG ACE). This expedition captured the silent warnings from glaciers, wildlife, and vulnerable communities, reminding us that the consequences of inaction are global. The first Melting Ice climate exhibition, held in 2023, focused on the Antarctic Climate Expedition and the ripple effects of its devastation across the ocean and planet.
One may wonder what the Arctic has to do with the tropics and Singapore. More than we imagine. The climate crisis affects everyone, influencing rising seas, shifting weather patterns, and the health of our natural world. This exhibition highlights the power of collaboration, from international agreements and regional partnerships to local action in Singapore, showing that only by working together can we safeguard our shared planet. By bearing witness to the Arctic’s vulnerability, we are called to reflect on our role and help build sustainable, resilient communities for the future.
