Step into Asuka Hishiki's cabinet of curiosity as the Botanical Art Gallery presents "In Green", a captivating exploration of nature through the artist's wondering eyes.

Nature pleases not only Hishiki’s eyes; it inspires her in various ways. She wonders, grows curious, and is amazed. When she sees something interesting, her imagination flies like a butterfly. It also worries her. We are facing very serious environmental issues now. Her thoughts and worries are woven into her artworks; however, her main motivation in creating them is to share the beauty of nature, celebrating the simple joy of experiencing it.

About the Artist
Asuka Hishiki’s practice is centred on close observation of the natural world and the quiet joy of encountering it firsthand. Working primarily in watercolour and pencil, she draws vegetables, fruits, and insects with careful attention to their natural forms. Trained in fine arts at Kyoto City University of the Arts, Asuka’s work combines scientific precision with a sensitive regard for individuality and form.
