HortFest 2025 - The Modern Farmer exhibition

The Modern Farmer Project is an immersive installation designed to reconnect people with nature. By showcasing the life cycle of a tree through a multisensory experience, we aim to inspire a deeper appreciation for the natural world and promote a hands-on approach to urban and environmental regeneration.

Join a hosted tour of the travelling Seed Project showcase, where you will see the journey from seed collection to turning biowaste into biochar. Learn how to grow healthy seeds into saplings that help build a microforest. This experience will give you a deeper appreciation of the life cycle of native trees and how every part of the seed is used. You will also get to create your own art piece using biochar paint and take home a personalized artwork made from the seeds.
