| Description | Males have combination of grey head, black-barred rufous upperparts and lack of eyebrow. Lacks white on wings and tail. Bill short and thick; underparts white. Females are almost like males but lores and thin line above eye white; bars on flanks. Medium size. |

| Ecological Notes | Perches on branches close to or below trees. It is widespread throughout Singapore during the winter months and can be found in many parks and gardens. Most often at the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve visitor centre and freshwater pond areas. |
