Description and Ethnobotany

Foliage The large pinnate compound leaves are arranged in spirals around the stem. Each leave has about 12-14 pairs of leaflet up to 20cm long each.
Stems The stem is covered with fine hairs near the growing tip that are easily scraped off. When the old leaves fall off, it leave petiole scars along the stem.

Taxonomy Previous name of Polyscias diversifolia auct. non (Blume) Lowry & G.M.Plunkett misused in Singapore. Current name of Arthrophyllum jackianum (G.Don) Frodin is applicable to wild plants in Singapore but not necessarily to wild plants elsewhere or to cultivated plants originating elsewhere.
