Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form Succulent herbaceous plant.
Foliage Thick, fleshy leaves are oblanceolate. Leaf margin is lined with short, reddish brown spines that rest upon small, teat-like protrusions of the leaf margin. Leaf tip is armed with a long, reddish brown spine. Glabrous (= hairless) leaves are bluish grey to bluish green and covered in a waxy bloom.
