Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form An epiphytic orchid, it has a pendulous growth form and its leaves can grow up to 30cm in length. 
Foliage The dark green leaves are pendulous and are cylindrical in shape with a narrow channel on the upper leaf surface.  
Flowers The flowers are borne on a raceme which can grow up to 35cm in length. The flowers have white sepals and petals. The flower lip is yellow with red striations and has a forked mid-lobe. The flowers are fragrant. 
Habitat It can be found growing in swampy forests or as lithophytes on moss-covered rocks from sea level to an altitude of 1000m. 
Cultivation It is best grown mounted on fern bark to accommodate its pendulous growth form. Alternatively, the plant can be grown out of a hole cut into the bottom of a perforated plastic pot to accommodate the leaves. It needs a well-draining growing medium.
