SGF marks milestone 10th edition with new orchid hybrid and commemorative book
A new orchid hybrid – the Papilionanthe Singapore Garden Festival – has been named after the Festival to commemorate its milestone 10th edition, and was unveiled at the Awards Night this evening. The hybrid’s ancestry traces back to our national flower Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim, while its multicultural breeding background draws upon contributions from British, American and Australian breeders and Asian species. Hence, it reflects the Festival’s international spirit, while maintaining firm roots in local heritage.
The orchid hybrid will be on display at The Meadow, welcoming visitors as they enter the Festival grounds to experience this milestone celebration.
A new commemorative book titled “Singapore Garden Festival: Celebrating Nature, Inspiring Gardens Since 2006” was also launched at the Awards Night. The book traces SGF’s remarkable journey and celebrates the milestones, defining moments and people who have shaped the Festival over the years.
The book is available for purchase at the Festival Shop at SGF from 4 to 12 July 2026, and at Gardens Shops in Singapore Botanic Gardens from 13 July 2026 onwards.
Celebrate orchids in bloom with rare varieties at Singapore Orchid Show and Indonesian-themed Orchid Extravaganza
The Singapore Orchid Show, organised in partnership with Orchid Society of South East Asia, will feature rare, unique and show-winning orchid varieties grown by hobbyists and industry partners. These orchids, including warm and cool-growing species and hybrids found in different regions around the world, will be on display at the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay. Entries were received across eight sections[1] and 52 competition classes.
Also held at the Flower Dome and in conjunction with SGF 2026, Orchid Extravaganza: Rhythm of the Rainforest spotlights the rich heritage and diversity of Indonesia. Featuring more than 7,000 orchids, including native species and varieties, the display is presented in partnership with the Ministry of Creative Economy of Indonesia and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Singapore. Striking handwoven artworks and larger-than-life sculptural pieces, crafted using the traditional anyaman weaving technique with coconut leaves and bamboo, are showcased alongside architectural recreations of traditional Sumbanese houses with their soaring roofs and multi-tiered Balinese Meru towers. Traditional motifs inspired by Toba Batak patterns and intricate ikat designs are woven throughout the display, reflecting the stories, beliefs and craftsmanship of the Indonesian archipelago.
“Carnival of Blooms” Comes to Life with Exciting Array of Festivities and Highlights
Themed “Carnival of Blooms”, SGF 2026 transforms Gardens by the Bay into a vibrant horticulture exposition with large-scale floral installations, new themed gardens and immersive experiences for all ages at every turn.
One standout highlight is an eight-metre-high Floral Roller Coaster – a striking installation that reimagines the thrill of a roller coaster through a floral lens. Greeting visitors at The Meadow entrance, the Floral Roller Coaster weaves lush tropical planting along sweeping curves and tracks, with blooms cascading in waves across the display.
The new themed gardens presented for the first time at SGF include Nature’s Carousel Play Garden, Sensory Garden: Forest of Sweet Delights, Sunkissed: A Celebration of Sunflowers and Silver Garden, offering visitors an array of immersive, nature-based experiences to enjoy.
By night, the Festival transforms into an enchanting landscape illuminated by various interactive light installations, including the Known by Flowers Light Installation designed by renowned Chinese landscape designer Hu Shiyang, offering a whole new visitor experience.
Visitors can also enjoy a vibrant slate of festivities spread across Gardens by the Bay, including various landscape displays and garden showcases, daily live performances, F&B offerings, a floral workshop and demonstrations, and a MarketPlace organised in partnership with Planters Market.
