Bringing in finished animal products

All finished animal products brought into Singapore must satisfy the permit requirements listed in the table below.
Type of finished animal product  Required documents 

Non-CITES listed

Import permit from AVS is not required.

CITES-listed

  • NParks-issued CITES import permit.
  • CITES export or re-export permit issued by the exporting country.

CITES-listed

Reptilian leather product*

  • CITES export or re-export permit issued by the exporting country. The original permit must accompany your import.

Subsequent re-export of your finished leather product would require a CITES re-export permit issued by us.

Taxidermised items or hunting trophies

Please refer to the factsheet on bringing taxidermised products into Singapore for more information on the permits, documents, and procedures required for import.
*Reptilian leather products include bags, wallets, watchstraps, etc.
To find out which animal species are listed by CITES, you can refer to the CITES appendices.

Apply for CITES permits

Step  Description 
Step 1:  Obtain a CITES export or re-export permit from the exporting country’s relevant authority.
Step 2: 

Apply for and obtain an NParks-issued CITES import permit via GoBusiness Licensing Portal.

This CITES import permit is valid for 90 days only.

You do not require a CITES import permit if you are importing CITES-listed reptilian leather products.

Step 3: 
A S$12 CITES permit fee is payable per species. This fee is subject to a minimum of S$60 per consignment.

Make an appointment for border control inspection

If border control inspection is required, make an appointment for inspection by submitting a request via our inspection and laboratory e-services website.
 
You should notify the Changi Animal & Plant Quarantine Station (CAPQ) of your consignment’s planned date of departure five days before the departure.
