Fun for the whole family at East Coast Park’s latest offerings

Singapore, 27 November 2014 - Families heading to East Coast Park during the year-end holidays can look forward to new family-friendly amenities and recreational options at Parkland Green. A 1-hectare open lawn facing the sea will cater to visitors who wish to enjoy outdoor activities like picnics and kite-flying. Dining, recreation and retail establishments housed in four blocks will also be rolling out special promotions to welcome park visitors this holiday season. These areas have been designed to offer barrier-free access for the convenience for all visitors. These are part of efforts by the National Parks Board (NParks) to enhance visitors’ experience at Singapore’s most popular park and enliven green spaces in our City in a Garden.

Amenities at Parkland Green include 16 bicycle stands with more to be added, two toilets (including one with shower facilities), ramps for barrier-free access, a vehicular drop-off point, a covered green roof walkway linking the area with existing the underpass from Marine Parade, and a garden-themed carpark with 306 lots lined with trees and shrubs.

Park-goers can choose from eight dining establishments that have different dining concepts and serve a diverse range of cuisines. Many of these establishments are also offering special promotions for the holiday season. There will also be two sports and retail outlets offering cycling and skating products, and a laser tag arena for those seeking an adrenaline rush. The full list of tenants and holiday promotions can be found in the Annex.

Mr Kong Yit San, Assistant Chief Executive Officer, Park Management and Lifestyle Cluster, NParks, said, “With more than 7 million visits annually, East Coast Park is Singapore's most popular park, catering to the diverse needs of users. Besides tranquil stretches of lush greenery where many come to retreat from the bustle of city life, the latest range of amenities and offerings at Parkland Green will enhance the park experience, especially the open lawns which provide more opportunities for various outdoor recreational activities. These are part of NParks’ continuous efforts in upgrading amenities to improve accessibility and rejuvenate green spaces in our City in a Garden.”

Parkland Green located at East Coast Park Area C and is accessible by bus service 401 on weekends. It is a 10-minute walk through the underpass near Marine Parade Central.
