Landscape Excellence Assessment Framework (LEAF)

The Landscape Excellence Assessment Framework, or LEAF for short, is a certification scheme to recognise development projects with outstanding greenery. This is the first scheme in Singapore that is solely dedicated to the provision and management of greenery. With LEAF, NParks aims to encourage more greenery in Singapore’s urban landscape.

Who can apply for LEAF?

Developers, architects, landscape architects, contractors and maintenance agents of existing and new developments can apply for LEAF.

How is the LEAF certification carried out?

We assess developments which are submitted for LEAF certification according to greenery provision and landscape design and management. The fulfillment of the Parks and Trees Regulations is a pre-requisite for submission.

What are the benefits of the LEAF certification?

The LEAF logo can be used for marketing purposes for each certified development, and for project owners and team members, it is recognition of excellence in efforts and professionalism towards high quality urban landscapes.

How long is the LEAF Certification valid for?

The LEAF Certificate is valid for three years, following which a reassessment can be done.

Are there any charges involved?

No charges are involved for LEAF certification.

What are the certification categories available for application?

Applicants can submit their projects under one of the available categories: New Development or Existing Development.

New development refers to a project in planning, not yet completed, or has not been issued Temporary Occupation Permit (TOP). Existing Development refers to a project which has been completed, or issued TOP.

How can we apply for LEAF?

  1. Download the LEAF application form here and the self-evaluation form here. (Applications are closed for 2017)
  2. Submit the completed forms with the supporting documents to NParks_LEAF@nparks.gov.sg
  3. Upon successful acceptance of application, both applicants and LEAF assessors will convene for an assessment meeting. For existing developments, applicants need to arrange for a site visit of the development.
  4. Applicants will be notified of the results after the completion of assessment.

What is the deadline for application submission?

Applications are closed for 2017.

Certified Developments and Validity Period

All applications which complete the assessment successfully are certified LEAF. Each year, certified projects which demonstrate high quality landscape and biodiversity enhancements above and beyond the norm are recognised as "Outstanding Projects". Each certification is valid for 3 years.

Outstanding Projects are indicated with an asterisk (*).
