Singapore, 23 August 2014 – Fantasy Garden “Winter Illusion” by New Zealanders Kate Hillier and Dan Rutherford, who partnered local landscape firm Flora Landscape Pte Ltd, has won the People’s Choice Award at the Singapore Garden Festival 2014. “Sound of the Forest” by NorthWest community gardening groups has won the Gardeners’ Choice Award. These winnerswere chosen by visitors to the Festival who voted for their favourite entries between 16 and 22 August via SMS. Members of the public have just a day left to view these favourite exhibits and more before the Festival closes at 10pm on Sunday, 24 August.

Over the last seven days (16 to 22 August), visitors were enthralled by the “Winter Illusion”, a garden created with a combination of optical illusion and fantasy. As one moves around the garden, the seemingly traditional or typical Singaporean tropical garden reveals a hidden surprise – a Winter Garden nestled within it.

The other winning display amongst the gardens created for the Community in Bloom (CIB) Gardeners’ Cup 2014, was “Sound of the Forest”. This most popular community garden display was created by community gardeners from eight organisations[1] in the NorthWest District. The garden showcases a tropical garden with interactive elements through the use of musical instruments.

As of 22 August, some 200,000 people have visited Singapore Garden Festival at Gardens by the Bay. Tomorrow (24 August) marks the last day of the Festival.

One lucky voter for the People’s Choice Award will receive a pair of return economy Cathay Pacific tickets to Hong Kong, while a lucky voter for the Gardeners’ Choice Award will win a Toshiba laptop. They will be conducted via phone by the organisers to collect their prizes at the Appreciation Event at the Festival on 24 August 2014.
