An evergreen tree up 15 m in height. Bark pale-grey to yellowish-brown in colour, sometimes shallowly fissured. Leaves, compound, 3 -5 foliate. Flowers are bluish-white to purplish in colour. Fruit, a drupe about 7-13mm in diameter.
In traditional medicine, a decoction of the tree bark is used to cure stomachaches. Its leaves can also be made into a poultice and used in the treatment of fevers and wounds.
