An evergreen tree that grows up to 25m in height. Crown is compact with upright leaves. Bark is pinkish brown, red on the inside, smooth and oozes harmless greyish gum when cut. Young leaves are pink in colour. Flowers occur in panicles towards the ends of the branches, white to cream in colour, usually 5-6 petals. Fruits are small, globular, about 1 cm in diameter, reddish to purple-black when ripe.
The Malay name of this tree 'Otak Udang' literally means "prawn's brains". The fruits look like little mangoes but are not edible.
This Heritage Tree had a girth of 2.1m when measured in Year 2003. 2.28 in Year 2012.
